Mindfulness is not a rest button. It is the surface of water becoming still in which you begin to see yourself.
Sometimes people think mindfulness makes you instantly calm. A pause button for stress. Immediate stillness in the mind. But calmness is not the first thing you get.
First you get awareness.
At your automatic patterns.
That nagging feeling you just can't get a handle on.
You start to feel. See. Hear.
It seems more of everything, but ... it was already there. You just became aware of it now.
Mindfulness is not a rest button. It is a stilling surface of water, in which you begin to see yourself better and better. And everything that was in the water below the surface, that is also just still there.
Therefore, it is also not a band-aid. Not a quick fix. But honestly practicing being present in daily life, with kindness, gentleness and patience.
This helps you make more conscious choices and be more resilient in life.
Curious what that looks like or would you like to practice that?
